Exhibited at Snedkernes Efterårsudstilling / The Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition 2023 A Piece for a Place

The rational construction of the bench borrows the building’s vertical rhythm and reflects the lines and materials of the distinctive wooden exterior, which is not ordinary cladding but shuttering boards from the production of the underlying concrete walls. In this way, the bench adopts the building’s modular logic – and becomes infinitely extendable. With its rhythmic variation, the bench softens the hard encounter between the building’s concrete plinth and the asphalt paving of the square in front of the building and introduces a human scale.
